80th Anniversary of Daytona Bike Week, March 5-14, 2021.
The 80th anniversary of Bike Week is happening in Daytona Beach this March 5-14 with plans in place to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. City commissioners approved the Bike Week 2021 Private Property Master Plan submitted by the Daytona Beach Regional Chamber's Bike Week Festival Task Force at their Jan. 20 commission meeting. As part of the plan, outside vendors will be permitted. Businesses that are in the Master Plan (including some on Main Street) will have to limit capacity inside to 60% to help promote social distancing.
Note other events are starting a day early.
About 95 percent of people not wearing masks.
This is about the biggest Bike Week in the last 10 years.
The boardwalk show was the biggest with over 120 bikes.

Time: registration noon to 3pm. Judging 3pm to 3:45pm. Awards at 4pm.
Today is Wednesday. Riding weather has been good for the last few days.
From now until the end of bike week, riding weather will be down to 50's at night and low 70's in the daytime.

Saturday, they said rain but not hail.
Biker were greeted with 1/2 inch size hail for about 10 minutes with about 1/2 inch of rain in 15 minute period around 10:55am.

Today is Friday with nice riding weather with some wind at Daytona Bike Week 2021 on its first day.
As noted 2 years ago with BMW media blitz, Buell is doing theirs this year with “Buell is back!”.
We interviewed a Buell racing shop at Biketoberfest 2020 that won first place in engineering at the Bike Show(Rat's Hole).
Buell will be present at Daytona Bike Week 2021 at J&P Cycles Destination Daytona Mega Store.
Buell Motorcycles "will launch 10 performance models by the 2024 model year."
Tomorrow on Saturday will have 80% chance of rain.

Unfortunately after 31 years of publication, American Iron Magazine is a victim
of COVID and the damage it has done to the advertisers and their support of the
magazine.
After struggling with the financial issues of COVID, and the sudden collapse of
advertising support, we ran out of funds. The magazine has been shut down so
suddenly we didn't have time to print a last issue with our good-bye and thanks.
We are sorry to say there is no money left to refund subscribers and we are out
of options.
We want to thank everyone for the great support and say good bye. It's been a
great ride.

Slingshot factory semi trailer was making it way back home from the Indian dealer on Beach St. at 8:55am this morning on Voluisa Ave. They still had their demo rides for Indians and Slingshot over the weekend in Daytona Beach as they are a local business.

According to Daytona Beach Area Convention & Visitors Bureau "The DAYTONA 200 that was rescheduled from March and was to be held during the Fall Cycle Scene on October 17, 2020 has been canceled. The 2021 DAYTONA 200 will be held March 13. Plans for the 2020 DAYTONA TT race and the Championship Cup Series road-racing program are expected to announce in the near future." as stated on 9/11/2020.

City of Daytona Beach "As well as issuing the emergency declaration, as of 8 a.m. Saturday, March 14, the city is revoking all city-issued permits for..." No t-shirts, jackets, insurance sales, food, bike sales, liquor, etc. Progressive Insurance, "closed", Boss Hoss, "closed", American Iron Outfitters, "closed", Rats Hole t-shirts, "closed", Rats Hole food, "closed", Rats Hole liquor/beer/soda/water, "closed", NexGen "closed". 3/4/2020. Hog Pen announced that it will have free bike parking this year which is across from the Iron Horse and next to Boot Hill Outpost. You can't miss the entrance to Hog Pen as the pedestrian walk way across U.S. 1 connects the two properites. On the Hog Pen side of the highway(east side) going north you have Hog Pen, Boot Hill Outpost, Beaver Bar, Broker Spoke(owned by Iron Horse), and then at the end Smiley's Tap(One of the oldest bar in the area '60). We will have more interviews coming up this week on the history of Bike Week.

They say Bike Week 2016 is on it seventy fifth year (75th)
in Daytona Beach. I have not seen this many bikes for more than 10 years. It
started strong and going strong. You will find events thoughout the area
everyday. Cool weather but good weather. A bike show somewhere everyday. 3 to 4
main bike shows appearing. Enjoy. Looking at 80 degrees for Wed., Thurs, and
Fri.
